Coaches from all Sports Welcome!
 |
Hello Everyone, Happy New Year! Please forward this message to all of your coaches.
I would like to invite youth coaches of all sports to a free Long Term Athlete Development session on Tuesday, February 5, 7:15 - 8:30 p.m., at West St. Paul School (3740 Main Street). Sheldon Reynolds, Coach Education Coordinator at Coaching Manitoba will lead us through a discussion of LTAD and present practical activities that coaches can use with their athletes that enhance fundamental movement skills and speed development. Coaches need to dress properly for activities and email me to register richard.chin@7oaks.org.

Coaches, please indicate what sport you are involved with and what age(s) your athletes are. The following information was taken from the CS4L website...
"Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L) is a movement to improve the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada. CS4L links sport, education, recreation and health and aligns community, provincial and national programming. LTAD is a seven-stage training, competition and recovery pathway guiding an individual’s experience in sport and physical activity from infancy through all phases of adulthood. CS4L, with LTAD, represents a paradigm shift in the way Canadians lead and deliver sport and physical activity in Canada".

I hope to see you there!

Maples Soccer Teams Take Gold and Silver Medals at City Finals
This was a great indoor soccer season and now we’ll have an even better outdoor soccer season.
Congratulations to the following teams:
U10 Boys team who came 2nd in the B side Cambrian Challenge Cup. (One of the big reasons for their success is due to Coach Shawn Race. The boys couldn’t have achieved this without your coaching and guidance. Congratulations Coaches Shawn Race and Sandeep Bali).
U12 Boys team who came 1st in the B side Cambrian Challenge Cup. (Congratulations Coaches Scott McConnell and Andrew Clarke for a job well done!).
U15 Boys team who came 2nd in the A side Cambrian Challenge Cup. (Congratulations Coaches Joe Gomes and John Speidel for taking you team to the top. Next year I am confident you’ll take first place and hold that trophy in your hands).
Coaches when you have some time this weekend please email me your team photos from the presentation at the Cambrian Challenge Cup so that they can be placed on our web site. Also remember that all of the equipment and jerseys need to be sent in next week. I’ll send you more information on dates and time for equipment and jersey drop off.
Windup information: Coaches please remember that Maples CC will give you $5.00/ player on your roster towards your team’s windup. Once you have your bills for the windup please send them to me and I’ll approve them as soon as it is possible.
Again congratulations on a very successful indoor soccer season.
Regards,
Angelo Battistoni

P.S. Coach Luis Rocha thank you for coaching the U11 boys soccer team this year but next year I expect to see your picture holding that Cambrian Challenge Cup in you hands. I know you can do it!

Maples Girls U15 Three-Time City/League Champs!
>
The Monarch's Girls U15 team had another oustanding season, earning their third straight City and League championship in as many years.
In three seasons of play the team has won all their games with only two decided by draw. In terms of scoring the team dominated their division, scoring an astonishing 170 to 22 points over 20 games against their rivals.
This past year, for the first time, the team ventured internationally by winning their age division in a tournement in Fargo this past January.
This year's Cambrian Credit Union Challenge Cup final was a thrilling nail-biter as fans were treated to a close match that was determined by a single point.
The Girls U15 team is scheduled to play an exhibition game on April 10, 2010 against Manitoba eHealth's Geek Squad at the Gateway Rec Centre starting at 4 PM.
See a photo gallery of the final game here.
