“Making Memories that will last a Lifetime”

Thank you for visiting the official site of the Maples Recreation Association Incorporated (MRAI) located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. On behalf of our Board of Directors, it is my great pleasure to welcome you and introduce you to our organization. The MRAI is directed by an exceptional group of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers.

Our goal, as stated by our motto, “Making Memories That Will Last a Lifetime!” is to provide a variety of recreational and leisure opportunities for our community residents. We proudly boast instituting programs aimed at all ages - from toddlers to senior citizens. We are a non-partisan/non-sectarian group, which sincerely desires to serve our neighbors by maintaining an environment that is both respectful and responsive to our diverse backgrounds. Our hope is not only to contribute and foster a genuinely friendly community spirit, but also to leave the legacy of having made our community a better place to live by generously sharing our time and talents.

Although the MRAI has existed within the framework of the City of Winnipeg Parks and Protection Committee since 1972, my tenure as President commenced on May of 2003. Under the framework of the “Plan 2025”, we are currently in discussion with the General Council of Community Centres, and examining the prospect of expanding our centre to include a full-sized gymnasium, an atrium, wall climbing, track, as well as an enlarged accessible event room affording feasible storage area. With the growth and development of our residential area, we are looking to introduce a field house and multiple use fields in the northwest vicinity of our area. We hope soon to enter into a completed joint use agreement with the Seven Oaks School Division and Cricket Manitoba as we endeavor to produce a Cricket Park at the Elwick satellite Centre.

I trust that you will appreciate the commitment of our Board of Directors to provide excellent programming and to meet the various needs of our community.
