Maples Receives Grant Via Special Delivery

The normal Saturday morning doldrums for our finance committee were livened up this past weekend by a special visitor bearing gifts. MLA for Burrows Melanie Wight dropped by to present a cheque for $10,800.00 as part of a Community Places Grant that Maples was awarded.

The grant was the final payment from the Province for our Vision 2010 work which is nearly complete – the project included electrical upgrades to the arena, new arena HMI and florescent lighting, washroom renovations in the arena and club and our new road-sign. All aspects of the project are complete other than powering the marquee on our new sign which is scheduled for completion by Dec 2012.

We’d like to thank Ms. Wight for visiting and for supporting the club’s efforts, and we look forward to working with all of our elected officials in the area to ensure our club house and arena are kept in good repair so we may meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
