Maples Hosts $10M Funding Announcement

July 6, 2010 - Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger and Mayor Sam Katz were on hand at Maples to announce the joint Province/City Building Communities Initiative (BCI) program. The City and Province are investing $5M each for capital works at community centres, parks and other public spaces throughout Winnipeg.
Maples was apportioned $250,000 from BCI as well as another $200,000 as part of a ward allotment through Old Kildonan city councillor Mike O'Shaughnessy. A new outdoor basketball and tennis court will be installed at the main Adsum site. Maples' satellite site at Elwick School will see the addition of a kid's basketball court and Maples' cricket pitch will undergo drainage upgrades, the installation of new paving, fencing and player benches.
