A few Maples teams made the 2010 WMBA City Playoffs and we happen to catch the
Boys 10 taking the championship on Saturday June 19, 2010 and the Girls 13-14 winning their division on Sunday June 20, 2010. Both teams were destroyers, and cleaned out their divisions with 11 straight wins each throughout the season.

Another great job by our coaches this season and we're proud of all our players for their hard work and dedication. WAY TO GO MAPLES BASKETBALL TEAMS!!!

The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association has done a good job of posting 2010's playoff results on their website here.

Maples Nutri-Lite 2010 Mini-Soccer Fest Success!

Lighting and thunderstorms didn't stand a chance against Maples community spirit as our 2010 mini-soccer festival was a smash! We've posted a photo gallery of the event - click the link below to hop over to the Soccer gallery.

This photo depicts our Maples Monarch posing with a WFD fireman and mini-soocer participant. Attenders enjoyed soccer games, a firetruck, bouncers, kid's games and face painting! There was also a major funding announcement at the Cricket matches at Elwick on the same day where a very special guest visited us! See below.

Maples was honoured to host Jill Officer for the occasion. Ms. Officer is a gold and bronze World Champion curler, and her moving motivational speech stirred the many kids, volunteers, visitors and media in attendance.

Maples Basketball to go International

Minnesota Timberwolves Logo

Officials from the Maples Basketball and Marketing programs have been hard at work over the Spring to secure a slot on behalf of Maples Basketball for the Timberwolves Basketball clinic.

We were notified on June 4, 2010 that we were accepted and we've paid a deposit to hold our slot!

As a result Maples plans to send about 40 of our basketball kids to the clinic which will include a two night stay in Minnesota, a day-long clinic at the Target centre on the NBA court and an NBA game afterwards. We were informed that it is common for the Timberwolves players to drop in on these clinics for pictures and autographs.

An actual date cannot be set for the trip until the NBA schedule is released in July/August of 2010. Shortly after the date is announced we'll start accepting registrations for the trip. The outing will be sponsored by Maples Basketball to help keep registration fees low. Stay tuned for details!
